It's been 6 months since we toured with our beloved Bromptons and the travel bug has definitely bit us hard. We decided to explore Jogjakarta which was only 2 hours flight away from sunny Singapore to check out the Indonesian city known for its traditional arts and cultural heritage.
With year round of dry and tropical wet climate and average temperature 27 degrees celcius, we were blessed with good riding weather during our 4 days stay in Jogjakarta. A former Indonesian capital, Jogjakarta is a small city surrounded with lush greeneries and mountains and an active volcano which last erupted in 2014. Successfully ruled under several kingdoms and sultanate, Jogjakarta still maintains and preserves all of its ancient architectures and temples throughout the region.
Unlike other major cities in Indonesia, Jogjakarta is less hectic, people are genuinely polite and traffic is calm, making our ride throughout leisure and safe with several bicycle lanes sporadically built around the city centre. We took our opportunity to ride to several places of interest with occasional off beaten tracks while discovering many more.
It was amazing to be able to absorb the sight, smell and sound beautiful Jogjakarta has to offer and until the next adventure!
