The Brompton Urban Challenge London was held on Saturday 14th May in partnership with Cycle Surgery. It was a chilly start to the day when the Bromptoneers met in Bishop’s Square for a breakfast of MOMA muesli pots, tea and coffee. Fed, teams decided and routes planned – the riders were ready to set off!
Throughout the day participants visited a number of Cycle Surgery stores around central London where they had to complete challenges such as how quickly can you pump up a tyre and can you guess the Brompton part hidden in the box. Riders also took a trip to the Brompton Oratory (where Andrew Ritchie got his inspiration for the name of our bikes!) to collect a goody bag of Brompton treats. Riders also completed a number of photo challenges such as getting a picture with a member of the Queens Guard and with 5 of London’s famous bridges. The ever popular fastest fold competition also returned with the fastest time of the day posted by Jennie from team Barky Archie with 9.98 seconds!
By the time the riders returned from their travels the sun had come out and it had turned into a warm afternoon. Riders enjoyed some nibbles while sharing stories of their day. Challenge prizes were awarded and staff from Brompton and Cycle Surgery chose the Judges choice prize which was awarded to E10 for their bright and fun images of the day.
