The BLOODHOUND Project

Brompton has always been committed to designing and manufacturing innovative products. So when the BLOODHOUND team contacted us about using our bikes during their project we were keen to hear how we could assist them.

We designed 2 bikes for the BLOODHOUND team to use during the live trials to help get around the testing site. Both parties Engineering & Design departments have visited each other to look at how the other works!

The BLOODHOUND Project is an international education initiative focused around a 1,000 mph jet and rocket powered car. The primary aim is to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers by sharing the adventure with the widest possible audience. Over 7000 schools have signed up the use the BLOODHOUND Education Programme in their classrooms.

The vehicle itself is a showcase for high technology design and engineering, utilising both composite materials, metallics and traditional aircraft manufacturing techniques.

The BLOODHOUND Team will begin testing the car on the runway at Newquay Airport in November this year and are set to deploy to South Africa to conduct high-speed trials in the summer of 2016.
